I know. I know. All sorts of studies suggest that video games are harmful to brain development and cause everything from autism to seizures to sassy talk. I'm clinging with a death grip to the one research project that indicates children who grow up playing Wii develop excellent hand-eye coordination and lightning-fast reflexes. I'd like to think that I'm preparing my girls for successful careers in surgery. Or kick boxing.

Awww, they look so adorable! I'm betting on the same thing you are...there HAS to be something valuable about them being able to hold a Wii remote and play video games.
I LOVE the intent look on the closer twin's face! Yes, I certainly hope that "exercising their thumbs" as much as they do will lead to promising careers in the new millenium...
Awesome hats! Julia is playing Playstation 3 now. Autism, really? I can see the sassy talk and perhaps it makes them cold blooded killers, but I've never heard of autism.
Hi! Ive been reading your blog for a little bit but have never commented...until now ;)
Im an Occupational Therapy student and Wii systems are used ALOT in rehab for patients with all different conditions. It helps with reation time, coordination, balance, memory, social skills, both fine and gross motor skills, not to mention daily exercise if the patients really get up and moving.
So Wii gets a thumbs up! OT approved!
I think the Wii is great - keeps the brain and body active. I'd rather my kids were playing on that than some of these PC-based games.
Thanks for the words of assurance, peeps! I'm especially going to be quoting Stef, should anyone sniff and complain that children shouldn't play video games ; )
you never know --- we could be doing a lot with those wheels and numchuck things in the future.
"I've got numchuck skills"
Rachel says, "Let me play that game, you know, where I beat that man up!" Yay, boxing!
